Today we not only use computers for e-mail, but also for schoolwork, shopping, instant messaging, downloading music and videos, and playing games. For many families, one computer is no longer enough to go around. In a household with multiple computers, a home network is a perfect solution.
A home network is simply a method of allowing computers to communicate with one another. If you have two or more computers in your home, a network can let them share:
- Files and documents
- An Internet connection
- Printers, print servers and scanners

To set up a network you need:
- More than one computer
- Hardware Router - this is necessary to coordinate traffic between computers
- Way for the computers to communicate together which can be through network wires or wireless (like the image shown at the left)
The image on the left (click to enlarge) shows the toplogy of a wireless network. The Internet is connected to the Router at the top, which sends the signal to the various computers (PC and Notebook) via wireless radio frequency of 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz

Note: 2.4Ghz is the same frequency as cordless phones, baby monitors etc - which could interfere with wireless reception. In this case it is better to purchase the N-Router which works on a 5Ghz frequency (more expensive)
The Service Includes:
- Installation of a router and applicable cards to a high-speed source between computers (wired or wireless)
- Configuration of router settings — Username/Password, SSID and WEP/WPA2 — to secure your network.
- Verify connections to make sure the networked computers can share the Internet, share files between computers and print over the network
