Secure Websites PDF Print E-mail
Written by Philip

Lately in the news there have been reports of criminals completely wiping back accounts of many people, across many banks. This happens because the criminals somehow gain access to the bank account either through ATM's or through Internet Banking passwords.

The most common way to steal Internet banking information is through a technique called phishing. Hackers create a fake bank website - that looks exactly the same as your regular banking website, except when you click login: your password information is sent to hackers - who then can empty your bank account.

So how do you know that the website your visiting is not a fake?

CommonCraft has released a new video: "Secure websites in plain English", which teaches the basics of website security and how to recognize a secure site.

  • An overview of the most common security threats
  • How SSL encryption works
  • How to recognize a secure connection
  • In which situations security is most important
