A service manual is basically a manual for technicians to repair and diagnose laptop faults. It usually includes schematic and block diagrams, printed wiring boards, waveforms, parameters and IC pin descriptions, parts list, drawings and schematics of mechanisms.

It is especially useful for dismantling laptops and to find part numbers for hardware that needs to be replaced.
